Sharing a recent prototype for a restaurant ceiling art installation in Chengdu. 👉 Approached from the perspective of limited ceiling load-bearing capacity and avoiding damage to the painted surfaces. 💎💎💎 Initial Requirements: Integrate the rustic feel of the environment (the restaurant was already operational). Floor Height: 3 meters, thus the ceiling installation could not exceed 30 cm in vertical height. Elements Requested: Wheat ears, European rustic feel. Special Requirements: Navigate around installed fire sprinklers and two large central AC units. After considering many materials, I ultimately chose the lightest option that best matched the overall hard decor style. Different heights of arcs were used to soften the industrial lines in the environment. Wheat ears and oats were added to fill partial crescent-shaped voids, enhancing the overall hierarchy through varied heights. Hanging wooden slat groups were incorporated; the subtle interplay of long and short straight lines added a secondary visual focus within the curves, resembling a mirage in a storm. The winding intersection of patterned wood pieces creates a sense of transparency, ethereality, and naturally disordered extension.
