Promise Me, When You See Brown Paper Art, You'll Think of Me

Another brown presentation. My fourth brown-toned installation this year. With shifts in environment, theme, and location, the design, form, and color ratios evolve constantly—so much so that if you happen to see it somewhere someday, you’ll instantly think of me… Sometimes, it resembles withered fallen leaves; sometimes, it becomes the nest-crown of perching birds. Sometimes it stretches in rolling waves, other times it coils smoothly and softly. Sometimes it stands as a unified whole, while other times it is merely a component playing with visual illusion. I wanted every single leaf to possess its own exquisite, organic form and unique shade. That meant obsessively controlling the color and the hand-rolled texture of each piece. During installation, I kept pinching and twisting repeatedly until each one looked exactly the way I envisioned. Even though the details of individual pieces might seem less significant once assembled, it is precisely this obsession that makes the final work look sophisticated, grand, and brimming with artistry.
