Seasons, Clouds, and Moon: A Mind-Bending Fusion of Seasonal Themes | Installation Art
Tackling a highly specific design challenge: how to seamlessly blend the four seasons with clouds and the moon into a single large-scale standing art installation, set within a 22-meter-high spired space. The creative journey wasn't overly complex. While each season has its own signature colors, they also possess distinct representative elements. Thus, winding new buds, blooming flowers, falling ginkgo leaves, snowballs, and snowflakes—combined with a moon crafted from oil-painted leaves and clouds shaped from cotton—form a three-dimensional tableau of the seasons, clouds, and the moon. All elements were deliberately desaturated, prioritizing environmental harmony and visual comfort... The creation was mentally taxing, and the installation process was arduous. For someone of my petite stature, it was overwhelmingly massive. Like waging a battle, we fought through sleepless nights against the clock. Forget filming videos—there wasn't even time to take photos. It wasn't until I returned to Chengdu from Beijing that I realized I had forgotten to document the process. I'm considering inviting a little volunteer who loves filming next time, to join in the fun and give me a chance to record the entire process for you all. *I dedicated one of my rare all-nighters to this 5-meter installation, then silently told myself: if possible, let this be the last all-nighter.
