Suspending the Hidden Column | Leisurely Rosemary

Using bamboo slats to conceal a structural column in the middle of a restaurant... Because no nails could be used, no drilling into surfaces allowed, nothing could hang, and no external support could be leveraged. Furthermore, considering future replacements, the design had to ensure that swapping materials or changing shapes wouldn't leave any trace of the previous installation. Thus, the bamboo slats essentially had to achieve a floating wrap entirely on their own—completely unattached and unfixed to the ceiling, column, floor, or walls. At the same time, it needed to withstand pulling forces and remain fresh-looking for a year or two without appearing dated. What seemed like a simple wrap became significantly more challenging due to these constraints... Behind-the-scenes snippets.
