Unveiling the X Fold3 via Paper Art Minimalism
Creation evolves from complexity to simplicity, from weight to weightlessness. Deconstruction and reconstruction—this is the process I find most captivating. Within this journey, I search for the medium of expression, using "paper" as a language to tell a story. For the vivo X Fold3 series—a device I call "Feather White"—I created a "lightness" installation. I was struck by the expansive, paper-thin screen when unfolded, and the sleekness of its back panel; it feels like a meticulously carved work of art. Its lines are clean and sharp, while the subtle textures on the back shell emanate an elegant, soft luster. The moment I touched its lightweight frame, I knew I wanted to use natural tree bark pulp to sculpt feathers as delicate as cicada wings, expressing the concept of "lightness." Rich in fibers, we decomposed and reconstructed the pulp through repeated experiments and drying cycles until we achieved a texture mirroring the "Feather White" finish of the phone. Using squeeze bottles, I drew the form of the feathers and traced the fine seams between them. Once dried, I carefully peeled them away from the base. Held up to the light, every stroke and fiber stands distinct, capturing the frozen moment of a feather floating in air. This became the visual expression of the art installation: light, ethereal, and airy. These small paper feathers cradle the vivo X Fold3 series, as if dancing in the wind or strolling through the clouds. The X Fold3 series not only sparked immense inspiration through its design but also surprised me with its imaging capabilities and battery life. Achieving weight reduction without compromise, this 219g foldable flagship—even lighter than an iPhone—boasts powerful ZEISS portrait photography to capture the daily poetry of art. The standard version’s massive 5500mAh BlueVolt battery supports a full day of creative work. #LightAestheticsArtProject #InstallationArt
