Floral Chengdu | Cross-Border Installation Art | Preparing the Floral Sculpture

Spent these eight days building cross-border installation art at Luxelakes. This time, I took a big step—directly leaping into the floral gardening circle—combining English-style floral sculptures with art installations. The biggest challenges were, of course, selecting waterproof outdoor materials and designing sufficiently unconventional structures. Waterproof materials needed to withstand not just rain, but also the daily watering required by potted plants. Pairing irregular structures with hundreds of pounds of soil made load-bearing and safety a real headache. The installation site is located at the entrance of the Luxelakes Flower Festival, covering a lawn of about 100 square meters. I primarily contributed the overall structural design and installation construction. Starting from knowing nothing about bedding plants, I can now name over 80 varieties of potted plants—all thanks to Tingting, the walking encyclopedia of flowers.
