Stalactite Forms, Cliff-like Presence | Paper Art Installation

A visual experiment exploring "force." Inward lies the sedimentation of time; outward, the power of wind. Using the softness of paper to depict the rigidity of stone; using the warmth of hands to trace the marks of the wind. From shaping the model (Fig. 12) and scaling up the structure 1:1 (Fig. 13), to dyeing, crumpling, pulping, and drying—the process took over half a month. Should it feature outer walls with recessed cliffs and stalactites, or be fully convex like towering peaks? I wrestled with this for three full days. Ultimately, I chose the more complex method for its clearer layers—the recesses open up sightlines and create sharper chiaroscuro contrasts. In recent years, I have experimented with many composite materials, using paper, bamboo, wood, and fabric most frequently. Paper remains my first choice due to its infinite versatility. I have used it to create large-scale sculptures, flames in the wind, the glow of sunset, laser beams, giant ribbons, abstract blooming petals, and numerous conceptual works on vision and color. This time, I completed three floating mountains using paper ⛰️. Using paper as a medium to discuss the dialogue between fragility and eternity.
